
STEADY developed an online design competition in support of the Sweet Classic Hi Canvas sneaker.
Users submitted their own original artwork –or– created their own designs via a custom creative builder featuring a variety of patterns, icons, and tools. All user generated artwork lived within an online design gallery where the community voted on the best designs. The winning artist won a year of NIKEiD and their design was released as a limited edition pattern on nikeid.com
Social media tools were implemented into the experience to promote individual artwork on Facebook and Twitter. In addition, a custom widget was developed that allowed users to scrape the voting gallery and bring it into their own personal blog spaces. The widget served as part of an online media buy, which increased vote count for the contest.
A backend CMS powered the experience and allowed Nike to facilitate live uploads. The project was developed as a single portable module that supported multiple languages. The experience lives on 3rd party media portals in China, Germany, and the US. The US version, which resided on Freshnessmag.com received record traffic and over 6,000 user submissions in one month timeframe.
